(RN) Manager, Clinical Services – Emergency Services

A large, growing, multi-specialty hospital in Southern California, recognized with an “A” grade in patient safety by The Leapfrog Group, is seeking a Manager of Clinical Services – Emergency Services to lead daily ED operations and drive performance excellence.

This role reports into a powerhouse CNO and executive team and offers the opportunity to lead within a fast-paced, high-acuity environment serving 100–185 patients per day.

Why This Hospital

  • Large, comprehensive, multi-specialty facility
  • Growing and financially stable
  • “A” Leapfrog patient safety rating
  • Collaborative executive leadership team
  • High-visibility role with real impact

What This Role Requires

We need a seasoned Emergency Department leader with strong operational depth who can step in and execute.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has current Emergency Department leadership experience
  • Demonstrates strong operational acumen
  • Is hands-on and boots on the ground
  • Manages both day-to-day workflow and the human side of leadership
  • Balances empathy with clear accountability
  • Communicates clearly and confidently across departments

Operational Focus Areas

You will lead:

  • Throughput management (door-to-triage, door-to-provider, door-to-discharge)
  • Drop-off trauma process oversight (not a trauma center, but frequent trauma walk-ins)
  • Collaboration with ancillary departments
  • Standard work and workflow optimization
  • Staffing, budgeting, and performance improvement
  • Survey readiness and regulatory compliance

This department needs someone who can drive execution, improve flow, and hold teams accountable while maintaining trust and engagement.

Leadership Expectations

This hospital is focused on succession planning. The right candidate could eventually grow into higher leadership roles.

The CNO is an experienced, communicative, and supportive leader, but she needs someone solid and experienced, not someone who requires foundational development.

Qualifications

  • BSN Minimum
  • Current Emergency Department leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success in operational improvement and staff accountability
  • Strong financial, staffing, and workflow management skills

If you are an established ED leader ready to elevate performance, drive throughput, and build a culture of accountability and excellence, we should talk.
